Colmar Day 1

We left Lucerne early, not too sure why as it was only two and a half hours drive, but glad we did as it rained most of the way and it’s the first time we’ve seen trucks on the road too so there was plenty of water about. It was actually refreshing to have a cooler day for a change.

Colmar Day 2 - A Day In Strasbourg

What can I say about Colmar? The first thing that comes to mind is that you have woken up inside of a postcard; the only thing missing are your Lederhosen. This town is a real-life fairy tale, with its cobblestone streets, Boulangerie Pâtisseries, its many restaurants, crêpes shops and so much more.

Colmar Day 3 - Ribeauville, Hunawihr & Riquewihr

Today we took a bus that visits six small Alsace winery villages outside of Colmar. It’s a bit like a hop-on, hop-off bus; it returns every one and a half hours at each stop and then takes you to the next. Each bus only has 24 passengers so they’re not that big, and it’s a great way to get around for 29 euros each.

Colmar Day 4 - Our last day

Our last morning in Colmar was spent strolling the streets until we found a small café to sit and enjoy coffee and croissants. We contemplated taking a local bus to the last small village, instead we settled into the “Deer and Beer” where we munched down a baguette each, had a few (or more) drinks and just people-watched.
