If you’re building a France itinerary that blends nature, culture, food and unforgettable landscapes, this curated collection is the perfect place to start.
Our adventure begins in Annecy — often called the Venice of the Alps — where turquoise water, mountain views and old‑town canals create the perfect introduction to the region. From there, we drive past Lake Annecy and Menthon‑Saint‑Bernard into the Alps, with dramatic scenery, winding mountain roads and sweeping views in Saint‑Gervais‑les‑Bains.
The following day takes us to Mont Blanc and Chamonix, where the Aiguille du Midi cable car and the Mer de Glace glacier deliver some of the most spectacular alpine views we’ve ever seen. It certainly wasn’t a day for jackets.
Later in the trip, we arrive in Colmar, a fairytale town of colourful canals and Alsatian architecture and where a rental‑car surprise adds a twist to the story. A day exploring the Alsace Wine Route follows, taking us through Ribeauvillé, Hunawihr and Riquewihr, each village more charming than the last.
We also take a 35 minute train ride to Strasbourg, a perfect day trip filled with canals, cathedrals and a new favourite food tarte flambée.

Sicily Travel Blogs: Stories, Tips, and Guides Across the Island
Sicily wasn’t originally on our radar, but after hearing friends rave about it, we decided to take a closer look — and it didn’t take long before the island completely won us over. With only eleven nights to spare, we wondered if it would be enough, but Sicily proved to be full of history, food, coastal towns and unforgettable moments. These pages brings together all our Sicily travel blogs, covering Ortigia, Taormina, Messina, Cefalù and Palermo, and sharing what it’s really like to explore the island.
Our journey begins in Ortigia, where arriving from Austria felt like stepping into another world — narrow lanes, lively markets and an underground history that immediately showed us Sicily’s depth and character. From there, we travelled by train to Taormina for dramatic clifftop views, ancient theatres and peaceful gardens that offered a quiet escape from the crowds.
Heading north, Messina surprised us with its quirky energy — monkey‑themed street music, mini trains and a search for the city’s true heartbeat. Then came Cefalù, the perfect place to slow down, with golden beaches, calm waters and a 16th‑century washhouse that adds to its seaside charm.
We ended our trip in Palermo, a chaotic, colourful and unforgettable city where markets, noise, culture and even octopus beaks became part of the experience, balanced beautifully by a relaxing day at Mondello Beach.
So If you’re planning a Sicily itinerary or simply dreaming of the island, our stories bring together real experiences, food discoveries, coastal towns and honest travel tips (no holding back) to help you get a true feel for what travelling in Sicily is really like
Exploring Germany: Black Forest Villages, Baden‑Baden & Ulm Adventures
If you’re planning a Germany road trip through the Black Forest, Baden‑Baden and Ulm, this page brings together our full four‑part travel series — a mix of real experiences, scenic routes and practical Germany travel tips to help you shape the perfect Black Forest itinerary. This trip became one of our favorite's, not just for the landscapes, but for the small moments and unexpected stories that unfolded along the way.
We begin in Gengenbach, a fairytale village surrounded by vineyards and timber‑framed houses. It instantly felt like the perfect base, peaceful, charming and a gentle introduction to driving in Germany. From here, we set out on a classic Black Forest route, winding through Schiltach, Triberg and Haslach im Kinzigtal. These towns are everything you imagine the Black Forest to be: waterfalls and cascades tucked between forested hills, medieval squares and quiet valleys where the world seems to have slowed down.
Our journey then shifts with a train ride to elegant Baden‑Baden, a city known for its thermal baths, spa culture and refined atmosphere. It’s one of my favourite places in Germany — a blend of old‑world charm and calm "sophisticated" that makes you want to stay longer than planned.
We finish in Ulm, and this is where the trip takes a more unexpected turn. Autobahn driving, a quirky hotel manager and even a surprise helicopter encounter all add a memorable twist to the final stretch. It’s the kind of ending that reminds you why road trips are so special — you never quite know what’s waiting around the corner.
So whether you’re building your own Black Forest itinerary or simply curious about this part of Germany, our stories bring together honest experiences and the practical details that helped us along the way.

Exploring Austria: Salzburg, Bad Ischl, Lake Wolfgangsee & Vienna
Planning a trip to Austria and looking for real experiences, scenic routes and practical travel advice? This page brings together our full collection of Austria travel blogs, covering Salzburg, Bad Ischl, Lake Wolfgangsee, Ebensee and Vienna. Every story comes from our first visit to Austria — a trip that quickly became one of the standout highlights of our entire European journey. From alpine lakes and fortress viewpoints to rainy‑day surprises and smooth first‑class train rides, Austria left such a strong impression that it’s now at the very top of our list for a return visit in 2027.
Our time in Salzburg gave us two completely different days. One was filled with rain, tiny umbrellas, Mozart trivia and monastery beer — the kind of day that becomes memorable simply because nothing goes to plan. The next day brought sunshine and a chance to explore Hohensalzburg Fortress, Hellbrunn Palace and some of the city’s most iconic viewpoints.
From Salzburg, we began our lake‑district adventure with a scenic bus ride to Bad Ischl, passing mountain views, winding roads and a few unexpected hotel surprises that set the tone for our stay. A rainy morning took us to Ebensee, a near‑ghost town that turned into an unexpected adventure when the weather closed in. Despite the drizzle, it revealed a quieter, more mysterious side of the region.
Then came Lake Wolfgangsee — a fairytale escape of colourful lakeside villages, peaceful walks and postcard‑perfect scenery. St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang were two of the most charming places we visited, and the lake itself was a highlight of our entire Austrian trip.
We ended our journey in Vienna, travelling first class and arriving ready for palaces, walking tours and even a Brazilian beer garden that added a fun twist to our final days. Vienna’s mix of grandeur, history and relaxed neighbourhood corners made it the perfect way to finish our Austrian adventure. Would I visit here again though?
If you’re planning your own Austria itinerary, or simply dreaming of alpine lakes and elegant cities, these stories bring together inspiration, honest experiences and practical tips to help you make the most of your time in this beautiful country.
