Practical Europe Travel Tips: Our Way Through Europe.

After your first overseas trip, or whether it be in your own backyard, everyone stuffs up. Sometimes it's just a little one, or it may end up being a major stuff-up.

Are we perfect? No way! But after enough holidays, we've cut the major stuff-ups down to just the occasional little one. Whether it's in the planning stages or packing, something can and will go wrong.

Hopefully, we have figured that out with our 2027 planning underway. In saying that, the only problem we experienced in 2025 was in Ulm, where we were in a hurry to get to a Christmas party and cancelled our accommodation three months prior. I think we were more excited about Christmas drinks with friends and simply forgot to rebook after the cancellation we made.

I share my thoughts and experience on preventing or minimizing the mistakes every traveler makes. You will never totally eliminate them because there are always unknowns when you arrive, such as the weather, but you have to be prepared.

Why Europe is Surprisingly Budget-Friendly

Being from Australia, we often find it incredibly expensive to explore our own backyard. Over-inflated domestic airfares and restaurants that seem to charge whatever they like—especially in cities like Sydney or Melbourne—holidaying within the country can feel like a rip-off. And don’t even get me started on our accommodation costs!

However, we have found Europe to be very affordable, and I’m going to explain what we discovered and why. If you’ve never been, there’s no reason to stay away—unless, of course, you simply don’t like flying!
