Planning the Next Adventure: Our Story
We’re an average working Australian couple, and now that our children have grown up and started families of their own, we are enjoying this next chapter of our lives by exploring Europe.
Being based in Australia, Asian destinations like Bali, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore are just a stone's throw away. While we’ve enjoyed those many times, we’ve also experienced driving through the Canadian Rockies, the beaches of Hawaii, the madness of Las Vegas, and exploring Machu Picchu and the Amazon jungle; but eventually, Europe began calling our names. The only hurdle was the long-haul flights, but we knew it had to be done.
Our first taste of Europe was Spain and Portugal in 2019. We sat down together, researched every detail, and put together an unforgettable trip that left us wanting more. The European travel bug had officially bitten, and we haven't stopped planning since.
We feel lucky to have experienced these places while we have our health to enjoy them. We don’t use travel agents; instead, we research everything ourselves. This gives us the flexibility to find out-of-the-way places and avoid being shuffled around by tour groups.
While we’re both still working, retirement isn’t too far away. We love sharing our stories over a meal and a drink with friends, and by putting these memories to print, we can share them with you, too. Because for us, the location doesn’t matter as much as having that next adventure in the pipeline to look forward to.

My Own Unbiased Travel Opinions
There is no holding back with me—I say what I see. If I don’t like it, I’ll say it as it is. That’s how it should be when telling stories to friends or putting pen to paper. I’ve found that with other blogs when researching areas, they often try to talk a place up when maybe it really should be talked down.

Won't Make That Mistake Again
We’ve learnt from both past and recent travels that we often stuff up by trying to squeeze too much into a four- or six-week holiday—trying to see so much that we miss what’s right in front of us. Sometimes two days here and two days there just doesn’t work, and even a one-night stay between destinations can leave you exhausted. Stairs or elevators? Hopefully, we’ve finally figured that one out.

Should We Slow Down Because We're Over 55?
From family holidays in Queensland, Bali, and Thailand with the kids and other families, we had terrific times. But now that they’ve grown up and are starting families of their own—and with us in our “mature years”—should we slow down just because we’re over 55? Hell no!
